This is a really good article honestly and you hit the nail on the head with this one. I do have some questions tho, how does talking about topics like feminism, homosexuality etc seem repetitive especially when the opposing side is constantly thrashing Christianity both on substack and TikTok. Just because you’re tired doesn’t mean others have seen this and also the new perspective you can give. Also calling it restrictive seems weird doesn’t the same sermon in church keep being preached over and over ?
Because the “other side” is constantly thrashing doesn’t mean we have to constantly be replying.
There’s many things we can share about the gospel, and there’s only one thing they can do, which is hate.
Why spend all the time refuting hate when there’s many other things to talk about?
And also I was speaking about Substack primarily, and the truth is that many of these topics have been repeated over and over in the same manner, with nothing new or profound to add.
And like I said, I’m not telling anybody to stop speaking.
My points are:
1. Speak on other things, every now and then, and
2. Speak only on things you’re very knowledgable about.
Hmm I don't know about your church but my church doesn't talk about homosexuality and feminism every Sunday. And again, homosexuality is not the gospel, feminism is not the gospel. These topics are not the gospel. Jesus is! Funny how most of these articles don't even really talk about Christ but just sprinkle some scriptures here and there and say they are defending the gospel.
Honestly, as a believer I am tired of those articles, because when I see them, like Ebun said, it feels like they are trying to take the place of God. Jesus says to preach the good news to the world. What is the good news? The good news is Christ and not these topics they are so fixated on.
And I am not saying we shouldn't speak against what is wrong. Some of these are wrong, no lies about that but you make that your identity, to always write about atheism, feminism, homosexuality, every single time?
Common now. Write about the love of God instead and how the love of God will lead us to fear him, and make us hate sin.
You’re making too many assumptions. I never said we should make defending the faith our identity, neither did I say he church does that. What I’m saying is that if this issue is about it being repetitive as in the writer of the post is tired, it wouldn’t change the fact that others need to hear it. Even when we preach the gospel don’t we say Jesus is the only way to heaven(which is the gospel) by that logic we’re calling all other religions false, which is my point. We keep talking on these issues because they need to be said not because we’ve heard them before.
And also some people make it their job to write against these things it’s called apologetics.
Thank you Ebun for clearly communicating this burden with the wisdom of God. I appreciate the work done here and whenever i feel like I’m starting to miss the plot, I know I can always come back here.❤️
I just subscribed to Counter Cultural. Well done.
Thank you

I see, fair enough.

This couldn't have been better worded.
