I saw somewhere one time that’s it’s not that we’re not to question God, it’s that we’re not to question the supremacy of God.

The rationale was that God is father, and so just as you’ll ask your dad questions for clarifications on things you do not understand, you’re welcome to do the same with God. In fact, He wants you to.

That makes a lot of sense and I agree

Wow! I recently found your work and I am really enjoying it. Your ability to put down so many thoughts and questions I have had is beautiful. I want come back a 2nd time with fresh eyes and give a more in depth analysis and thoughts on your piece. For now, all I can say is keep writing, love your work. Also, not sure if you have heard of him but with your way of writing you may really like Fyodor Dostoevsky, Notes from the Underground would be my book recommendation, not too long of a read!

When I was little, I always thought the saying “don’t question God” meant don’t even ask him questions like: “when do you think i should do this?” Or “how do I go about this” 😂

I didn’t know the context in which they really meant.

God is so…God. It’s how he even still hears our unasked questions and all.

Lately, He has been showing me more about His nature and it has been amazing!

I like how even this was

Yeah, he’s too big for us to understand and that’s why he’s so great.

God continually shows us who He is in our personal relationship with Him. We cannot fully understand or comprehend Him but somehow our knowledge of Him is cemented by the inner witness. So believing God is not just the way, it is the only way, because the answers that we seek can only be found in relating with Him.

This was a beautiful read that echoed some of my personal thoughts. Thanks for sharing Ebun.

What a balanced article! Thanks for writing this Ebun!

I’m reminded of George Herbert’s The Pulley that speaks about man’s restlessness and our design to rest in God, a Being higher than us in every way.

More and more, I’m realizing that I know nothing compared to the Omniscient one who sees and knows all things. What better way to do life than to do it with the One who made you and knows your future?

I read that poem in secondary school, and now I truly understand it.

There’s things far beyond our comprehension, it’s futile to try to grasp it all.

No better place to be than under the one who saw, sees, and foresees what’s to come.

The beauty of “What If”s is that they work both ways…

If there’s a being supreme to men is all ways, created men and wants men to just accept and follow what he created from the beginning, he won’t have given man the ability to think differently from what he wanted.

Except the “arrogance” is something the Being didn’t predict which means he is also learning from the beings he created. And that’s why he has left them to do their thing for thousands of years.

What makes man different from everything else he created is the ability to decide who they want to be (free will) so why not embrace who he wants you to be rather than shut yourself out due to fear of being unable to grasp everything?

There’s no fear. It’s conviction.

I accept the things he lets me, and I let go of the things that are beyond my comprehension.

Curiosity is a gift.

And of course he factored in the arrogance, he just lets us “do our thing” because he loves us.

It wouldn’t be love if he forced his will upon us.

A learned professor visited a Zen master to inquire about truth. The master quietly served tea. He poured the visitor’s cup full, and then kept on pouring.

The professor watched the overflow until he could no longer restrain himself. “It’s overfull! No more will go in!”

“Like this cup,” the master said, “you are full of your own speculations. How can we discuss truth unless you first empty your cup?”

I am truly happy you have your truth. It brings you peace. But there are infinite truths, as many as there are lives in the universe ❤️😊.

The professor and the Zen master are both Man.

No matter what they know, they are still limited in their understanding of the scope of “truth” and the universe as a whole.

I don’t have “my truth”, there’s no such thing.

There is a truth and there are millions of lies.

We all decide to choose what to believe in.

And the tea continues to overflow 😊. There is no man. There is no god. There is no tea. There is no cup. There is no you. There is no me. In that there is the truth that is not truth ❤️😊.

And in this exchange, there is connection. And I am profoundly grateful ☺️.
